ZAWM Saint-Vith is a vocational training center It trains apprentices and future business leaders alternately, in collaboration with companies. In addition, the ZAWM offers all types of continuing education for companies in the cross-border region. Apprentices are trained in business at the practical level (4/5), and at the school level at the professional theory level (1/5). 95% of apprentices find a job within 6 weeks. Co-op training therefore plays an important role in countering the shortage of skilled labor and youth unemployment.
The Classlab
The classlab focuses on the use of digital technology in vocational training and learning conditions with technologies. It is driven by Erich Hilger. The research questions that guide the school's thinking are: how to offer online certifying training? How to pilot the educational and technical choices?
The ideas that are explored are: the analysis of current ICT teaching and learning applications; the exploration of teaching methodologies and collaborative learning using ICT; the digital teacher training and discovery of emerging technologies: video games, virtual reality...
Short presentation of the institution's involvement in the project
As an experimental school, we have targeted the development of digital tools within our establishment (purchase of Ipads, installation of a second computer class, use of a communication platform, use of IBM software,...) to better meet the needs of companies. Moreover, our goal was to create a framework favouring the development and use of digital tools.
The objective of the actions was to improve students' skills, by integrating digital devices/software so that they are better prepared for the needs of the labour market, but also to create an inspiring framework for the faculty who are reluctant to use digital tools in the classroom with training, ...
For the management: To master the analysis of the internal and external context in order to implement pedagogical transformations and a context favouring change.
